AdventHealth Pasco County Hospitals Earn All A’s in Patient Safety

AdventHealth has once again received the highest score possible in patient safety from what many see as one of the most difficult distinctions to earn. All AdventHealth Pasco County hospitals including AdventHealth Dade City, AdventHealth Wesley Chapel and AdventHealth Zephyrhills received an A in safety from the prestigious Leapfrog Group. The national patient safety watchdog group delivers grades based on quality metrics such as a hospital’s performance in preventing medical errors, injuries, accidents, and infections.

Out of 3,000 hospitals evaluated nationwide, only 30% received this top grade.

“We are honored to receive the 15th consecutive “A” Hospital Safety Grade by the Leapfrog Group,” said Erik Wangsness, President, and CEO of AdventHealth Wesley Chapel. “Our leaders, physicians, and team members are committed to ensuring we deliver highly skilled and safe care every time someone is in our hospital.”

All AdventHealth hospitals receiving an “A” in patient safety include:

  • AdventHealth Carrollwood
  • AdventHealth Dade City
  • AdventHealth Lake Placid
  • AdventHealth Lake Wales
  • AdventHealth North Pinellas
  • AdventHealth Sebring
  • AdventHealth Tampa
  • AdventHealth Wesley Chapel
  • AdventHealth Zephyrhills

"Our extraordinary team has remained committed to providing quality care to keep our community safe and healthy," said Dawn Hicks-Waldron, Vice President & Chief Nursing Officer at AdventHealth Wesley Chapel. "This achievement speaks volumes to our dedicated team members who continue to live our mission daily and ensure patient safety and quality care come first at AdventHealth Wesley Chapel."

The Leapfrog Group previously awarded AdventHealth the Emerald Award for Outstanding Achievement by a Health Care System, a first for any health system. The achievement honors AdventHealth’s performance across Leapfrog’s Hospital Safety Grades and Top Hospital award, which is one of the most competitive quality awards a hospital and its team members can receive.
