AdventHealth Hendersonville has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Total Ankle Replacement, Total Hip Replacement, Total Knee Replacement and Total Shoulder Replacement Centers of Excellence. The Gold Seal of Approval is a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to providing safe and effective patient care.
The orthopedic program team from AdventHealth Hendersonville participated in a rigorous on-site review in January. Joint Commission experts evaluated compliance with national specific care standards as well as with orthopedic-specific requirements. Clinical practice guidelines and performance measures also were assessed.
AdventHealth Hendersonville is it the first hospital in Western North Carolina to achieve this distinction for Total Hip Replacement and Total Knee Replacement. It is the first in North Carolina to earn the Total Shoulder Replacement distinction and the first in the Southeast to receive the Total Ankle Replacement distinction.
"AdventHealth Hendersonville has thoroughly demonstrated a high level of care for patients with total joint replacement health needs,” said Patrick Phelan, executive director, hospital business development for The Joint Commission. “We commend AdventHealth Hendersonville for becoming a leader in orthopedic care, specifically Total Ankle, Total Hip, Total Knee and Total Shoulder, potentially providing a higher standard of service for patients in its community.”
"AdventHealth Hendersonville is committed to providing exceptional care to every patient, every time. And this dedication is exemplified in the focus on excellence in care from every team member in our orthopedic program,” said Jimm Bunch, AdventHealth Hendersonville president and CEO. “To be able to achieve the Centers of Excellence certifications in not just one, but four areas of specialized orthopedic care solidifies our promise to caring for the people of our community who trust us to help them feel whole.”
Leading the way in firsts, in 2017, AdventHealth Hendersonville, then Park Ridge Health, became the first in Western North Carolina to earn the Spine Center of Excellence certification. The orthopedic program has also become the first to offer innovative technology to enhance surgical precision and allow patients to experience faster, more effective recoveries for many surgical procedures.
