AdventHealth Hospitals Earn Healthgrades Awards for Safety and Patient Experience

Hospitals across AdventHealth’s footprint earned the Healthgrades Patient Safety Excellence Award and Outstanding Patient Experience Award for 2020. The two annual awards recognize hospitals across the nation that meet stringent patient safety standards and have exceptional patient experience scores.

The Healthgrades Patient Safety Excellence Award for 2020 was achieved by AdventHealth Hendersonville, AdventHealth Shawnee Mission, Adventist Medical Center Bolingbrook, Adventist Medical Center Hinsdale and Adventist Medical Center La Grange. The award recognizes the nation’s hospitals in the top 10% for patient safety, measured by the prevention of injuries, infections and other serious conditions based on 14 preventable adverse events. According to Healthgrades, the award’s methodology uses inpatient data from the Medicare Provider Analysis and Review (MedPAR) database and software from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ).

The Healthgrades Outstanding Patient Experience Award for 2020 was achieved by AdventHealth Shawnee Mission, AdventHealth Wesley Chapel, Avista Adventist Hospital and Adventist Medical Center La Grange. These hospitals have been recognized in the top 15% of the nation’s highest overall patient experience scores. Healthgrades selects the awardees using Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) inpatient survey data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for patients served between April 2018 and March 2019.
