Florida Hospital at Connerton Long Term Acute Care is expanding to fit the growing needs for patient care. Hospital leaders recently held a groundbreaking ceremony on to mark the expansion of the new critical care wing.
The 22,000-square foot expansion includes 30 new critical care level beds designed to serve patients requiring additional weeks of specialized hospital care. Once completed, Florida Hospital at Connerton Long Term Acute Care will increase to 75 beds.
'Our programs and services cater to patients with medically complex care needs,' said Florida Hospital at Connerton Long Term Acute Care Chief Operating Officer Debi Martoccio. 'The expansion of our critical care wing allows us to deliver expert care to even more people in the community who are moving toward the next stage of their recovery.'
Currently, the facility, which opened its doors in 2009, cares for an average of 600 patients a year from across the state. In addition to more beds, this expansion will include state-of-the art technology such as advanced cardiac monitoring, smart IV pumps and the BeSmart Safe Mobility and Reposition Transfer program that reduces employee and patient injuries and aids in supporting patient mobility.
Florida Hospital at Connerton Long Term Acute Care is the latest of several growth and expansion projects for the Adventist Health System's West Florida Division within Hillsborough, Pasco, Pinellas and Polk counties. Recently, the West Florida Division announced plans to build a free-standing ED in Lakeland, announced plans for Florida Hospital Tampa's patient tower, announced a plan to expand and renovate the Florida Hospital North Pinellas emergency room, and cut the ribbon on Florida Hospital Dade City.
