Florida Hospitals Celebrate National Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week

VOLUSIA AND FLAGLER COUNTIES, Fla., May 31, 2018 In celebration of the 44th annual National Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week, the Florida Hospitals in Volusia and Flagler counties hosted various events honoring emergency service personnel during the week of May 20-26. Each hospital hosted an event for its EMS personnel throughout the week to recognize the brave men and women who dedicate themselves to saving lives. Florida Hospital DeLand in DeLand, Florida Hospital Fish Memorial in Orange City, Florida Hospital Flagler in Palm Coast, Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center in Daytona Beach, and Florida Hospital New Smyrna in New Smyrna Beach each provided a free lunch outside their ER entrances. About Emergency Medical Services Week National Emergency Medical Services Week brings together local communities and medical personnel to honor those who commit their lives to saving others on the front lines of medicine. The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) was instrumental in establishing EMS Week when President Gerald Ford recognized the first National Emergency Medical Services Week, which continued for four more years. The week of recognition was reinstituted by ACEP in 1982, and in 1992, EMS Week was moved to May.
