ORMOND BEACH, Fla., November 16, 2016 On Nov. 11, more than 1,500 community members joined the six Florida Hospitals in Volusia and Flagler counties which comprise the Florida Hospital East Florida Region for a free concert featuring Christian singer Francesca Battistelli at the Calvary Christian Center in Ormond Beach. The concert was hosted in celebration of 150 years of Seventh-day Adventist healthcare. What we are here to celebrate tonight is our strong heritage of quality, compassionate health care for the mind, body and spirit, said Rob Fulbright, Florida Hospital East Florida Region CEO. In 1866, the first Seventh-day Adventist health care facility opened in Battle Creek, Michigan, healing illnesses without the harmful treatments that were common in the early days of modern health care. They focused on keeping patients safe, while also teaching good nutrition, exercise, and hygiene that helped their communities avoid illness and live healthier lives. Concepts such as healthy eating, fresh air and exercise were radical for that day. These concepts, which are so central to our vision, propelled a movement toward a different kind of health care, Fulbright said. Tonight, we recognize and celebrate the Adventist tradition of whole-person care that has become the foundation for current medical industry practices. During the event, the Grammy award winner and six time Dove Award recipient performed hits, such as Free to Be Me, Run to Jesus, and the single that won her a Grammy, "Holy Spirit," from her album If We're Honest. In between songs, Battistelli inspired the audience and shared the stories behind her music, including growing up home schooled in Lake Mary, her travels to Nashville, and now her life as a young mother. I am a huge fan of Francesca! I love her music and have been listening to her for years, said Helen Maxwell, Palm Coast resident. Im very excited about being here this evening, listening to this wonderful music and praising our Lord. Her songs move me, said Ormond Beach resident Sue Helland. When she sings, she speaks volumes to everybody, just look around at the crowd here - you have both young people and older people. This concert, it means a lot to me.
