— ORLANDO, Fla., May 3, 2019 — Doctors at AdventHealth for Women are the first in Florida to use TransEnterix’s Senhance Surgical System to perform minimally invasive gynecological procedures.
This state-of-the-art technology merges laparoscopic and robotic surgical techniques to give surgeons more control and precision while only making small incisions. This form of minimally invasive surgery helps patients recover faster and can reduce the chance of postoperative complications.
“I’m proud to be part of an innovative organization that’s constantly redefining health care to help our patients feel whole,” said Dr. Steven McCarus, chief of the division of gynecologic surgery at AdventHealth for Women. “With the Senhance Surgical System we’re not only able to treat the condition but also give patients the ability to recover faster and enjoy better quality of life.”
AdventHealth was the first health care system in the United States to purchase the technology in 2017. A year after, the hospital´s colorectal surgeons were the first in the country to perform surgeries using the technology.
"At TransEnterix we believe in advancing minimally invasive surgery through innovation,” said Todd Pope, TransEnterix president and CEO. “The Senhance Surgical System realizes that belief by significantly redefining what surgeons and patients can expect from robotic surgery."
