New AdventHealth emergency room coming to Sanford
SANFORD, Fla. – AdventHealth today celebrated a major milestone with the groundbreaking ceremony of its new emergency room, located in Sanford. This state-of-the-art facility will provide enhanced emergency care services to the community, increasing access to timely and quality health care.
The approximately 13,300-square-foot facility will have 12 private patient rooms; respiratory therapy; diagnostic imaging including CT scans, X-ray and ultrasound; and a full-service laboratory.
“This new emergency room represents a significant investment in the health and well-being of our community,” said Jeff Villanueva, CEO of AdventHealth Altamonte Springs. “We are committed to providing exceptional care to our patients, and this new access point will enable us to do just that. We are thrilled to bring this level of service to Sanford and look forward to serving our patients for generations to come.”
The facility will be staffed by a comprehensive clinical team including board-certified emergency physicians and emergency nurses.
“AdventHealth Sanford ER will deliver on our brand promise of whole-person health, providing hope and healing not just to the body, but the mind and spirit,” said Dr. Max Baumgardner, AdventHealth’s emergency medical director in Seminole County. “The ER will provide a convenient option for area residents to access emergency care close to home from the number one emergency care team in Central Florida.”
The ER will bring 50 high-paying jobs to the area.
"We are proud to see this project come to fruition and are grateful for AdventHealth's commitment to our community,” said Norton Bonaparte, City Manager of Sanford. “This new emergency room will not only improve health care outcomes but also stimulate economic growth and development in our city."
The AdventHealth Sanford ER is expected to open in 2025. The architect is HuntonBrady Architects, and the general contractor is Batson-Cook.
The freestanding ER will further expand the robust AdventHealth network of connected health care in Central Florida. AdventHealth Orlando has been named the No. 1 hospital in Greater Orlando by to U.S. News & World Report for 14 years in a row.
