AdventHealth Remains the Safest Hospital System in Tampa Bay According to the Prestigious Leapfrog Group

All six AdventHealth hospital locations in Tampa Bay received the highest marks possible for patient safety from The Leapfrog Group. This national distinction recognizes the hospital’s achievements in protecting patients from harm and medical and medication errors in the hospital. AdventHealth Carrollwood, AdventHealth Dade City and AdventHealth Zephyrhills also received the Top General Hospital designation, and AdventHealth Tampa and AdventHealth Wesley Chapel received the Top Teaching Hospital designation, and AdventHealth Wauchula in Hardee County was named Top Rural Hospital.

“This is a tremendous achievement for our team members and physicians who work continuously to provide the best care possible,” said David Ottati, President and CEO of AdventHealth West Florida Division. “Our commitment to keep patients safe is our number one priority and being recognized by The Leapfrog Group, an independent watchdog organization, reinforces that we are delivering the best and safest health care possible in the communities that we serve.”

According to The Leapfrog Group, hospitals achieving Top Hospital distinction have better systems in place to prevent medication and medical errors, higher quality of maternity care and lower infection rates, among other safety criteria that is evaluated. Hospitals that are eligible to receive a Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade must have received an “A” in the most recent round of scoring.

“Achieving clinical excellence is the foundation of our care model in all of our hospitals,” said Dr. Robin McGuinness, Senior Executive Officer of Patient Outcomes for AdventHealth West Florida Division. “Going to the hospital can be a fearful time for many patients and the ability to provide them with the reassurance they’re receiving care in the safest facility is paramount to our goal to provide exceptional whole person care.”
