— WAUCHULA, Fla. – In response to the devastation left by Hurricane Milton, AdventHealth Wauchula teamed up with Florida Farm Share and the Wauchula Seventh-Day Adventist Church to distribute food, water, and essential supplies to more than 500 families in Hardee County.
Cars lined up at the Wauchula Seventh-day Adventist church on Carlton Street as volunteers from the hospital, local law enforcement and the community provided much-needed relief, ensuring families received vital resources to help their recovery.
This morning, more than 500 families lined up to get the important supplies at the Wauchula Seventh-day Adventist church on Carlton Street.
Florida Farm Share provided a semi-truck with 24 pallets of 500 boxes of food and 500 boxes of toiletries that were given out. Each family was given a box of food, a bag of fresh bananas and apples, bottled water, a box of toiletries, diapers and dog food. AdventHealth employees, church and community members and volunteers from the Wauchula Police Department and Hardee County Sheriff’s Office worked together to load up each car.
“We are so honored to team up with these amazing members of our community to provide these much-needed supplies to people in need here in Hardee County,” AdventHealth Wauchula Vice President and Administrator Christen Johnson said. “It is very important for all of us to work together and help take care of one another, especially after devastating events like Hurricane Milton. We are grateful to be part of this amazing effort.”
The office of Florida State Representative Bob Rommel of District 81 and his legislative aide Kimberly Timm, a Hardee County resident, helped coordinate the Florida Farm Share delivery.
AdventHealth would also like to express our immense gratitude to the Wauchula Police Department and Hardee County Sheriff’s Office for their support and help in distributing the supplies while also providing traffic control for the event to help keep everyone safe.
