Blended Burger Sliders

Burger Sliders for the Whole Family

A blended burger is a great way to amplify the nutrient density of your hamburgers by adding in fresh chopped mushrooms to the patties for additional fiber, juiciness and savory flavor.

Prep time: 20 minutes
Serves: 4 to 8 depending on the size of burger you prefer.

Recipe Ingredients

  • 1 pound 90% lean ground beef, preferably grass-finished
  • 8 ounces mushrooms (baby portobello, white button or shiitake)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • To taste, desired seasonings
  • 1 tablespoon avocado oil
  • Optional, burger toppings: tomato, lettuce, red onion, ketchup, mustard, mayo
  • Whole grain hamburger buns, you can use slider size if a smaller burger is preferred.
  • If preferred, bibb lettuce as a gluten-free lettuce wrap option.

Preparation

  1. Remove the mushroom stems and place in a food processor; pulse until finely chopped. If you don’t have a food processor, you can chop them by hand.
  2. Add the chopped mushrooms, ground beef, garlic, salt and pepper to a medium sized mixing bowl and mix until combined. Form into 4 to 5 large patties or 6 to 8 smaller patties.
  3. Heat tablespoon of avocado oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Place the burger patties in the skillet and cook for approximately 4 minutes per side, or to your preference for doneness.
  4. Serve on a toasted bun or lettuce wrap dressed with preferred condiments and toppings.
