As part of social distancing, many people have put off regular health exams, screenings and other types of health care they need. For women, this may include any gynecologic care you need, like well-woman exams and screenings like Pap tests and pelvic exams. Or, you may have a gynecologic health condition, such as incontinence or endometriosis, and need to see your doctor for regular or follow-up care.

It’s Important to Get the Women’s Health Care You Need

Whether you need a well-woman exam, have questions about family planning or need treatment for an ongoing condition like endometriosis, we’re here for you when you’re ready. At AdventHealth, nothing is more important to us than your health and safety. That’s why we believe it’s so crucial for you to keep up with your women’s health care screenings and other preventive care.

While you may still feel hesitant to seek care right now, getting regular wellness checkups and screenings is an important part of staying healthy. And, rest assured, when you need an in-person visit, we are taking extra steps to keep you, other patients and our staff safe.

Get in Touch With Your Physician Easily

The first step in seeking care is to get in touch with your physician. We’ve made it easy to talk with your provider virtually about any care you need and to reach out if you have any questions or concerns about your gynecologic health. For some types of care, you may even be able to set up a video visit with your physician.

During a telemedicine visit, you can talk with your doctor about any concerns or symptoms you have and decide together whether you need to come in for an office visit for further screenings, tests or procedures. You can discuss topics such as:

  • Concerning symptoms like pelvic pain, pain with intercourse, urinary incontinence, urinary tract infections (UTIs) or heavy bleeding

  • Family planning questions or concerns

  • Ongoing treatment you may be having for a condition like endometriosis, cervical polyps or uterine fibroids

  • Preventive screenings you may need, such as Pap tests, pelvic exams and breast exams

  • Questions or concerns about menopause

Keeping You Safe During In-Person Women’s Care

When you need care from your provider that requires you to go into the office, your safety is our top priority. When you visit your provider, you’ll notice a few new measures we’ve put in place to keep you and your family safe.

Temperature Screening at All Facility Entrances

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), most people with symptoms of coronavirus have a fever. To check for this symptom, we have installed temperature checks at the entrances to all facilities. All patients and visitors entering the facility will have their temperature taken before they can enter. Those who do have a fever will be sent to a separate area for further evaluation.

Daily Monitoring of Providers and Staff

We are monitoring all health care providers and team members daily for any symptoms of COVID-19 and performing temperature checks regularly. This helps us ensure that everyone on our team can provide you with the care you deserve, safely.

Everyone Must Wear a Mask

The CDC urges everyone to wear a mask or homemade cloth face covering while in public to help slow the spread of coronavirus. In line with these guidelines, we require all patients, guests and staff to wear a mask while in any of our facilities. Rest assured that our team members have the necessary personal protective equipment to wear in addition to masks, and we will give you a mask to wear when you enter your physician’s office.

Social Distancing Measures

We’ve put in several different measures at our locations to maintain social distancing and minimize your contact with others. These include limiting the number of people in each facility, redesigned waiting rooms (look for floor markers and seat covers for where to sit and stand) and the placement of plastic shields at registration areas. In addition, some physician’s offices may ask you to wait in your car and will send a text when they are ready to see you.

Separate Care for Well Patients

We have set up specific care areas for patients with a fever or other concerning symptoms. This means when you arrive for your visit, you will not be in the same area as others who may be sick.

Nothing Is More Important to Us Than You

We’re here to help meet your women’s health needs safely and effectively. If you need to see your gynecologist, primary care doctor or another specialist, rest assured that we’re taking measures to keep you safe during in-person care.

Schedule an appointment with your provider, learn more about our women’s health services or find a gynecologist near you.
