If you need urgent care, chances are you have a medical issue that needs quick attention. It’s important to know that accessing our Centra Care locations is as safe as possible, so please don’t delay in seeking care for you or your loved ones.

It’s also a good time to review when to seek urgent care or go to the nearest emergency room, so you’re prepared with the right information if and when you need it.

Urgent Care vs. Emergency Care

Urgent care is for health problems that are non-life-threatening but need to be evaluated and treated quickly. It’s also a convenient alternative when it’s not possible to see your regular physician for many common illnesses and conditions.

For example, our Centra Care clinics across the country treat conditions including but not limited to:

  • Bladder infections

  • Broken bones

  • Coughs and sinus problems

  • Cuts and scrapes

  • Ear infections

  • Lower back pain

  • Pinkeye

  • Rashes

  • Small burns

  • Sore throats

  • Sports injuries

  • Sprains and strains

Emergency care is for more critical health issues that may cause permanent harm or be life-threatening if they are not addressed right away. Examples of medical problems that need emergency care include:

  • Bleeding that won’t stop

  • Compound fractures

  • Difficulty breathing

  • Fever in a child younger than age 3 months

  • Heart attack symptoms, including pain in the chest that lasts for more than a few minutes

  • Loss of consciousness or seizures

  • Poisoning

  • Severe burns

  • Severe pain

  • Stroke symptoms, such as sudden loss of vision, numbness, slurred speech or confusion

Special Safety Precautions at Centra Care

You can feel secure when you visit any Centra Care urgent care location because we have extra safety measures and protocols in place to keep you and your loved ones safe. These include:

  • Face masks for all. For everyone’s safety, all patients and visitors to our facilities must wear a cloth face mask, as recommended by The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). A cloth face mask that covers the nose and mouth can help slow the spread of respiratory viruses. If you don’t have a homemade cloth mask, we’re happy to provide you with one when you come in. Our care providers must wear surgical-grade masks, and we have plenty of personal protective equipment for them.

  • Limiting the number of visitors. We are only allowing one visitor per patient to make sure waiting rooms are not crowded.

  • Patient cohorting. Any patients or visitors who have symptoms of an infectious illness, such as a fever, are in a separate area from others.

  • Social distancing. We are making sure everyone maintains a physical distance of 6 feet apart as much as possible. We have reconfigured waiting rooms to ensure a safe distance between chairs, and we are marking the floor to remind people where to stand.

  • Temperature screening. We are checking everyone’s temperature before they enter one of our facilities.
