— KILLEEN TX – The annual Silver Classic 5K Run and 3K Walk, organized by AdventHealth, is now open for registration. This race is part of the Cen-Tex Race Series, which offers a variety of races throughout the year for local runners.
The event will take place on Sunday, March 17th at 9:30 AM behind the hospital's ambulatory surgery center in Killeen, TX.
Since the 1980s, the Silver Classic has attracted participants from across central Texas. The race was initially organized by Seventh-day Adventist pastor Ernest Dobkins, and the name "Silver Classic" comes from the tradition of rewarding first-place runners with ounces of silver.
Today the Silver Classic serves as a fundraiser for AdventHealth's Wellness Department, with proceeds supporting free services and educational classes in the community. Participants in the race will be chip-timed and placed in gender groups based on age.
Early registration is available for $25 until March 4, after which the fee will increase to $35. For more information, you can email Mariana Rodriguez at [email protected] or visit the registration link provided.
