Patient and nurse mammogram

3D Mammography

Mammograms play a leading role in detecting breast cancer early and before it has spread. It is estimated that only half of women over 40 receive regular mammograms. Our goal at AdventHealth North Pinellas is to detect cancer early, so we can help you get back to doing the things you love with the people you care about.

Evidence continues to show that 3D mammograms are better at finding cancer. According to the National Cancer Institute, breast cancer is the second most common cancer in women after skin cancer, yet in Florida it is the most common type. Our AdventHealth North Pinellas Foundation intends to help decrease the statistics in our community by funding a state-of-the-art Genius™ 3D mammogram system through the help of generous donors.

The Genius™ 3D mammogram system provides numerous benefits to our patients:

  • It is more accurate and detects 20-65% more invasive breast cancers, compared to 2D alone.
  • The system features the SmartCurve™ breast stabilization system that is clinically proven to deliver a more comfortable mammogram compared to a traditional mammography exam.
  • It reduces the chances of being called back for unnecessary screenings, due to greater accuracy.
  • The system is the only mammogram FDA approved as superior for women with dense breasts.
Area of Greatest Need

Our AdventHealth North Pinellas Foundation’s goal is simple: support programs and needs that serve North Pinellas patients, guests, and team members.

By partnering with us to support our areas of greatest need, you have the opportunity to move health forward by funding patient care priorities. Your donations stay within our hospital and 100% goes to the area you designate.

Thanks to generous contributions from community members, our Foundation funds programs that shape the future of innovative, whole-person care. Some of these incredible initiatives include a new emergency department, a robotic surgical system, heart monitors, and much more.

We hope you'll join us to experience how generosity heals.

Burnette Society

In 1987, our Foundation started the Burnette Society, an annual giving society in memory of Dr. E.W. Burnette, one of the founding physicians of both the hospital and Foundation.

Burnette Society members give a gift of $1,000 or more each year and help carry forward our commitment to provide whole-person care to patients and community members.

Burnette Society donations support our friends who need cardiac care, like treatment for heart failure; our neighbors who seek freedom from pain and require minimally invasive orthopedic services; and our loved ones who unexpectedly have to make a trip to our new emergency room.

In 2021, Burnette Society donations funded six new vein finders. This proven technology allows our nurses to provide an enhanced patient care experience.

The Burnette Society is deeply rooted in AdventHealth North Pinellas’ history, and we can only continue this legacy through the support of compassionate community members.
