- Care for the Entire Family
-
Spending time with family can be just as important to a person’s well-being as any other part of their care. Whether at home, at our inpatient unit or in a nursing home, your loved one deserves to find the joy in each day. And you can count on our hospice nurses to care for your entire family with tireless compassion, so you can make every moment count.
- Hospice Care Volunteers
-
Our volunteers are at the heart of our hospice care, volunteering their time, talents, unique expertise and compassion to support you and your loved one. And since many even spend time in the homes of patients and families, we go to great lengths to ensure every volunteer is right for this type of work.
Volunteers must obtain medical clearance, in addition to passing a background check and the Hospice Care Volunteer Training Certification program, which includes understanding hospice, confidentiality, working with families, listening skills, signs and symptoms of approaching death, loss and grief and bereavement support.
Volunteers provide patients and families with a wide array of services, including:
- Inpatient support at our inpatient hospice care facilities
- Practical assistance, from providing companionship or a listening ear to sharing hobbies and reading to patients
- Respite care that may involve running errands, staying with a patient to relieve family members, preparing light meals or helping with housework
- Vigil presence: throughout an illness, and when the patient is passing, it can be a comfort to have someone to sit in vigil quietly at the bedside, to hold a hand or whisper words of comfort
As integral parts of our hospice care team, our volunteers can help create a peaceful atmosphere for families to share stories about their loved one or help them say goodbye. At every step of your loved one’s care, you’ll be surrounded with support.
- Special Services
-
As part of our hospice care program, we offer these special services:
Friends with Flowers
Hospice care volunteers create flower arrangements for our inpatient units and Palm Coast nursing home facilities. These flowers are donated by a local floral wholesaler and other area florists.
Life Legacies
Everyone has a story to tell, and Life Legacies gives our hospice care patients the opportunity to record theirs to share with future generations.
- Pet Programs
-
We know that your loved one’s pets are part of the family, which is why we offer these pet-centered programs as part of our hospice care program:
Pet Partners
Pets have the ability to uplift our spirits in the most authentic way. Unique to AdventHealth Hospice Care, HospoochCare and HospussCare provide patients with a visit from our Pet Partners team. This program brings volunteers and their trained therapy animals to patients to ensure they don’t feel isolated, to stimulate communication and to improve emotional and social health.
Pet Peace of Mind Program
The Pet Peace of Mind Program is designed to support pets while their owners are receiving hospice care services. Pet Peace of Mind Program volunteers may assist with food, litter and the basic veterinary care that patients desperately need for their pets. This may include:
- Basic in-home care
- Dog walking
- Financial assistance with routine care
- Flea and tick treatment
- Pet waste clean-up
- Transportation to veterinary care or groomers
Contact our Pet Peace of Mind Program coordinator at 866-582-6731 for more information.
