Recipe: Cinnamon, Honey and Vanilla Oatmeal

A steady diet of oatmeal in any of its various varieties has been shown to help with lowering cholesterol and provide easily digestible complex carbohydrates. It's just a good, warm breakfast, and whole grain rolled oats, combined with the flavors of cinnamon, honey and vanilla, are a comforting way to start the day. Prep Time: 22 mins Serves: 4

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups rolled oats old-fashioned 1 1/2 cups water 1 cup 1% milk 2 1/2 tablespoons honey 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1/8 teaspoon kosher salt

Instructions

1. Place liquid ingredients in a sauce pan and bring to a rapid simmer. 2. Add the oatmeal and whisk constantly until oats start to gelatinize. 3. Incorporate the rest of the ingredients and lower the heat and cook until liquid is absorbed. Add water if necessary.
