In the case of a pediatric emergency, we’re here to get your child care fast and calm your nerves - no matter the time of day. Our dedicated pediatric emergency room is separate from the adult ER and is made up of a compassionate team of pediatric nurses and staffers, all in a relaxing environment tailored to kids, so you and your family can feel more comfortable.

Caring for Our Youngest Patients with Expert NICU Services

​​​​​The moments just after birth are some of the most precious. When your baby needs extra monitoring and attention, our Level II neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) is ready to provide expert care and watchful eyes. Staffed 24 hours a day with specialized neonatal care nurses and neonatologists, the Daytona Beach NICU is designed to care for babies born at or after 32 weeks who weigh more than 3.3 pounds, as well as babies with certain health problems, including the need for short-term ventilator-assisted breathing.

  • Child Life Specialists

    Our Child Life Specialists work with the clinical team to reduce stress and create an environment that helps support your child’s emotional and physical health. With age-appropriate education and therapeutic play, your child can feel comforted and better understand their treatment and medical care.

  • Dehydration Treatment

    ​​​​​When an IV drip is needed to treat moderate to severe dehydration, we’ll put your child at ease. We’ll explain the process, helping them understand why it’s needed and hold their hand through it all, ensuring they are back to safe hydration levels.

  • ECHO Scans

    ​​​​​If there are concerns with your newborn’s heart, we offer same-day ECHO scans with the support of the AdventHealth for Children pediatric cardiology team. The cardiologist can review the scans and provide guidance for any required treatment or next steps in care.

  • Gastroenterology Care

    Children who suffer from gastroenterology conditions can now receive care within our hospital. Our team can perform on-site endoscopies and colonoscopies, which allow us to diagnose and treat diseases such as Crohn’s and ulcerative colitis and provide your child with comfort and care.

  • General and Orthopedic Surgery

    You don’t have to travel far for general or orthopedic surgical needs. Our surgeons can provide services for pediatric patients who are school-aged or older. Combined with our surgical and orthopedic specialists available at the on-site specialty clinic, your child can receive care close to home.

  • Imaging Services

    Whether you need imaging services for a congenital condition or an incidental fracture, we can provide your child with care right at the hospital. In addition to offering general imaging services, our team also has the capability to perform MRIs that do not require sedation.

  • Phototherapy

    To treat your newborn’s jaundice, we use phototherapy. This treatment makes it easier for your baby's liver to break down bilirubin and remove it from their blood. This service is also provided to discharged patients who are unable to see a pediatrician on time.

  • Respiratory Care

    Our team is prepared to provide your child with care for any and all respiratory related conditions including asthma, pneumonia, RSV and more. Additionally, we provide high flow oxygen for ill respiratory patients.

Meet Our Medical Director
Dr. Katarzyna Madejczyk is the medical director of our pediatric urgent and emergency care department at AdventHealth Daytona Beach. Her goal is to help every child feel whole by treating them with care and compassion that heals body, mind and spirit.

With a dedicated on-site AdventHealth for Children specialty clinic in the building and access to pediatric specialists, we can care for a range of health issues your child faces. From heart issues and broken bones to weight and glucose management, we’re ready and able to diagnose, treat, and care for many things that affect your child, easing symptoms and helping heal the root of each issue. Our specialty clinic services include cardiology, general surgery, endocrinology, nephrology, orthopedics and urology.
