Caring for Every Part of You is at the Center of What We Do
- Are You At Risk for Diabetes?
-
When it comes to diabetes, knowledge is power. The sooner you understand your risk level, the sooner we can help you get on track to manage your condition and even prevent a diagnosis completely. At AdventHealth Daytona Beach we’ve helped many people with prediabetes catch and control their condition before it becomes type 2 diabetes. We’re prepared to do the same for you. Let us help you assess your diabetes risk with a range of tests, including:
- A1C — A common blood test for diagnosing type 1 and type 2 diabetes
- Autoimmunity Checks — To test how your immune system is functioning
- C Peptide Screenings — Helps us predict type 1 diabetes
- Casual Plasma Glucose Test — Random screening for blood sugar levels
- Fasting Plasma Glucose Test — Requires you to refrain from food or drink for eight hours
- Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT) — We’ll give you glucose and test your levels afterward
From there, we’ll provide you with an individualized treatment plan, educational resources, and the support you need to take control and get back to embracing life to the fullest.
- Learn How to Manage Your Diabetes Well
-
You'll never be left to manage your diabetes without guidance. Our nurses and dietitians work with you and your primary care physician to develop an individualized diabetes care plan that teaches you how to plan meals, manage medications, appropriately monitor glucose levels, and make proper diet and exercise a healthier part of your life.
Empowering you with the tools, support, and planning you need to control your diabetes has been at the heart of our diabetes management program from day one. In fact, our Diabetes Center is among the best in the area, having been the first in Volusia County to be certified by the American Diabetes Association. To better help you manage your diabetes now and for years to come, we offer a range of peer groups and diabetes care and education classes to give you the support you need.
- Diabetes Support Group — This group meets once a month to talk about diabetes management techniques and the daily lifestyle changes that come with a diabetes diagnosis.
- Two-Week Series — This session covers meal planning, monitoring glucose levels, managing medications, and more.
