The PGY2 Ambulatory care Pharmacy Residency Program at AdventHealth East Orlando is designed to build on the foundation of a PharmD education and PGY1 residency training to develop advanced clinical pharmacists specialized in outpatient care of patients.
Key components of the program include:
- Direct patient care responsibilities in various primary care settings
- Management of chronic disease states and complex medication regimens
- Participation in transitions of care
- Patient and provider education
- Practice management and leadership development
- Teaching and precepting opportunities
- Completion of a research project and quality improvement initiatives
This program aims to develop well-rounded clinicians rooted in evidence-based practice. Rotations are longitudinal and include the following: Hospital-Based Clinics, Provider Collaborations, Population Health, Teaching, Projects, and Administration. Additional responsibilities include completion/revision of an ambulatory care treatment protocol, development/expansion of one ambulatory care service, and completion of monthly presentations and topic discussions.
General information
- One to two, full-time, 12 month positions available
- Estimated annual stipend: $58,500 + conference travel support
- Immediate health, dental and vision insurance
- Time-off: 10 days paid vacation + 10 days project days

Required Qualifications
- Doctor of pharmacy degree
- Completion of ASHP accredited PGY1 pharmacy residency
- Possession or eligibility for Florida licensure
- Participation in the National Matching Service and PhORCAS
- Learning Experiences

The following Learning Experiences (rotations) are offered. With the exception of 6-week orientation, learning experiences are longitudinal for 46 weeks unless otherwise noted. Please note, the curriculum is subject to change based on department needs and clinical circumstances.
Core (Required) Longitudinal Experiences
- Orientation
- Hospital-based clinic management: anticoagulation, transitions of care
- Provider collaborations: Well65+ Senior Care, Family Medicine
- Population Health
- Administration: protocol development, service line advancement
- Projects: research, quality assurance/improvement opportunities, continuing education
- Teaching: precepting 4th year pharmacy students and PGY1 pharmacy residents, routine education of medical residents, preceptor development, teaching certificate option
Elective
- Per resident interest and RAC approval

Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Pharmacy Degree Program
- Successful completion of a PGY1 residency program with certificate awarded
- Current, valid Florida pharmacist license or eligible for licensure
- Participation in the National Matching Service and PhORCAS.
