AdventHealth Awarded CON for 26 Additional Beds for the new Weaverville Hospital

HENDERSONVILLE, NC, November 21, 2024 – AdventHealth is honored to announce that the State of North Carolina has awarded us the Certificate of Need (CON) for 26 additional beds for our new hospital in Weaverville. This approval brings the total number of beds to 93, enhancing our capacity to provide high-quality, whole-person care to the people of Buncombe, Graham, Madison and Yancey Counties.

"We are thrilled to receive this approval, which allows us to better serve our community's health care needs," said Brandon Nudd, President and Chief Executive Officer for AdventHealth’s hospitals in Western North Carolina. "This expansion is a testament to our commitment to delivering exceptional care and improving health outcomes for people living across our region.”

The new hospital, located on more than 30 acres of land in Weaverville, will feature state-of-the-art technology, surgery services, a labor and delivery unit, and an emergency department. The additional 26 beds will allow AdventHealth to enhance the scale and scope of these services for the community.

"We are deeply grateful for the overwhelming support from elected officials, local leaders, and members of the public who advocated on behalf of their communities in their support of AdventHealth’s application," added Nudd. "Today's decision is a direct result of the community support from our partners in Buncombe, Graham, Madison and Yancey Counties.”

AdventHealth is ready to move forward with the planning to incorporate these additional beds into the design for the new hospital. That planning will include continued conversations and collaboration with the community trusting us for their health and wellness care.
