HENDERSONVILLE, NC, Sept. 3, 2024 – AdventHealth is excited to welcome Michael Borbely, DO, to its team at AdventHealth Medical Group Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine at Medical Office Building*. Dr. Borbely is board-certified in both Critical Care and Pulmonary Medicine. He specializes in innovative, leading-edge techniques and procedures. With his expertise, AdventHealth is excited to be offering a comprehensive bronchoscopy program for patients in Western North Carolina.

Dr. Borbely earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, with a special emphasis in cellular and molecular biology, from San Diego State University in San Diego, CA. He then earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Midwestern University, Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine in Glendale, AZ. He went on to complete his internal medicine residency program at Midwestern University - Franciscan Alliance Hospital System in Olympia Fields, IL, and his fellowship in Pulmonary/Critical Care Medicine from Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo, CO.

Dr. Borbely enjoys all aspects of pulmonary and critical care medicine. He provides exceptional, high-quality care for the entire spectrum of pulmonary disorders, ranging from interstitial lung disease and pulmonary hypertension to the more routine issues such as sleep apnea, asthma, and COPD.

AdventHealth’s promise of whole-person care appealed to Dr. Borbely and his patient-centered approach to care. As a physician, he listens to his patients to develop relationships that allow him to provide individualized education so they can easily understand their conditions. His goal is to empower his patients to take an active role in their plan of care so they can feel whole.

“I feel fortunate to have found an environment that is offering me the opportunity to practice medicine the way I have always thought it should be practiced - one patient at a time,” Dr. Borbely shares. “I want every patient to know that they are an individual, that their experience is unique, that their anxieties and fears are heard. I want to earn their confidence in my ability to provide the best care that I am able.”

Dr. Borbely is excited to be caring for the Western North Carolina community at AdventHealth. He says, “There is a significant need for the pulmonary and critical services I am capable of providing, not only in the immediate Hendersonville area but extending farther into the more surrounding rural areas.”

Dr. Borbely and his wife have four horses, and one dog. Outside of work he enjoys golf, mountain biking, Tenkara (Japanese fly fishing), and reading. He shares says he feels the most whole when he is sitting on the porch with his wife and dog, enjoying the calm and quiet of the day.
