N.C., AdventHealth Hendersonville Laboratory Services Receives Accreditation from College of American Pathologists

Mar. 18, 2021; HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. – AdventHealth Hendersonville is celebrating the incredible dedication to safety and quality by our Laboratory Services team. This dedication led the Accreditation Committee of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) to award accreditation to AdventHealth Hendersonville Laboratory Services based on results of a recent on-site inspection as part of the CAP’s Accreditation Programs.

Laboratory Services Interim Director, Brenda Fletcher, MT(ASCP), was advised of this national recognition and congratulated for the excellence of the services being provided. AdventHealth Hendersonville Laboratory Services is one of more than 8,000 CAP-accredited facilities worldwide.

“Our Laboratory Services Team provides compassionate care to our patients and exceptional skill in their roles as part of our diagnostic teams. In the past year, they maintained this level of excellence in the midst of establishing and maintaining the rigorous demands of COVID-19 testing. We are so excited to celebrate the CAP accreditation earned by this amazing team,” said AdventHealth Hendersonville Chief Operating Officer, Scott Miller.

The U.S. federal government recognizes the CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program, begun in the early 1960s, as being equal-to or more-stringent-than the government’s own inspection program.

During the CAP accreditation process, designed to ensure the highest standard of care for all laboratory patients, inspectors examine the laboratory’s records and quality control of procedures for the preceding two years. CAP inspectors also examine laboratory staff qualifications, equipment, facilities, safety program and record, and overall management.
