AdventHealth Hendersonville Names New Chief Medical Officer

Feb 1, 2024; HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. – AdventHealth is excited to welcome Byron Dixon, MD, MBA, FACHE, to his new role as Chief Medical Officer for AdventHealth Hendersonville. Dr. Dixon comes to this role with a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to AdventHealth’s mission of Extending the Healing Ministry of Christ by providing compassionate, high-quality health care to our community.

This move is a return to AdventHealth Hendersonville for Dr. Dixon. He served as the Medical Director of the Emergency Department from 2018 to 2021. In his time with leading the ED, Dr. Dixon demonstrated exceptional leadership, dedication, and a passion for delivering excellent patient care.

Most recently, Dr. Dixon served as the Vice President of Clinical Affairs for Novant Health's greater Charlotte Market supporting multiple hospitals. He has also held several key leadership and faculty positions at organizations including Wake Forest and Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System.

Dr. Dixon is board-certified in Emergency Medicine and Healthcare Quality Management. He earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN and his Doctor of Medicine degree from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine in St. Maarten, Netherland Antilles. He trained in Internal Medicine at East Tennessee State University and completed his Emergency Medicine Residency at West Virginia University. He received his Master of Business Administration from the University of Tennessee Haslam College of Business and is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Dr. Dixon is married with two children. To feel whole outside of work, he enjoys fly fishing, spending “devise-free” time with his family, attending church, and playing chess.
