N.C., August 31, 2020 — AdventHealth Medical Group Family Medicine at Mills River Welcomes New Physician

August 31, 2020; HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. – AdventHealth Hendersonville is excited to expand access to primary care in Western North Carolina by welcoming Christina McCabe, MD, to its network of providers. Dr. McCabe is accepting new patients at AdventHealth Medical Group Family Medicine at Mills River, where she will care for people of all ages.

Dr. McCabe joins the AdventHealth team upon completing her residency in family medicine at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, N.C., and is thrilled to return home to the mountains of Western North Carolina. She attended medical school at Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University in Greenville, N.C., and completed undergraduate studies at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Originally from Brevard, N.C., Dr. McCabe has a passion for serving her community, and spent 10 years after college working in housing, legal rights and food security. She ran a community-supported agriculture (CSA) garden from 2005 to 2010 before deciding to become a physician.

“I traded in the care of plants for the care of people and pursued medicine, because I can think of little else that is more empowering than helping others achieve and maintain a healthy body,” Dr. McCabe says.

As a family medicine physician, Dr. McCabe says she has a passion for preventative medicine and promoting healthy lifestyles.

“I enjoy talking to patients as people and putting their health into the context of their daily life in order to more fully understand their health goals and create a meaningful and successful treatment plan,” she explains.

In her free time, Dr. McCabe enjoys adventuring with her family – including her 4-year-old daughter and 1-year-old son – as well as growing food and building with wood.
