N.C., September 14, 2021 — AdventHealth Welcomes New Family Medicine Physician to Asheville

Sep. 14, 2021; HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. – AdventHealth is excited to welcome Gwendolyn Smith, DO to its team of primary care providers at AdventHealth Medical Group Multispecialty at South Asheville*. Dr. Smith is board-certified in family medicine and focuses on integration of health for the body, mind and spirit.

Dr. Smith earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Va. and her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, Pa. She went on to complete the UPMC Susquehanna Health Family Medicine Residency Program in Williamsport, Pa., where she focused on full spectrum family medicine, including strong inpatient medicine, obstetrics, and women’s health training.

Dr. Smith chose family medicine because it blends her love of working with people with her passion for medicine and the science behind it. Dr. Smith adds, “I approach my role as a family physician first and foremost by building relationships with mutual respect and trust. I communicate health information through a compassionate but honest, transparent lens. It is in this way that I express care for my patients and honor the integrity of the doctor-patient relationship.”
