Long Time Community Physician Joins AdventHealth Medical Group Offices in Black Mountain

N.C., — AdventHealth Hendersonville is excited to welcome a familiar face in the Western North Carolina community to its AdventHealth Medical Group team. James Marnock, MD is now caring for patients at AdventHealth Medical Group Family Medicine at Black Mountain. Board-certified in family medicine, Dr. Marnock spent the past 20 years working in private practice in the Black Mountain and East Asheville areas.

“After 20 years of working as an independent physician, I began looking for an organization that also treated patients and staff as family, with the advantage of additional teamwork and excellent healthcare resources. I feel like AdventHealth checks off all the boxes,” said Dr. Marnock.

Dr. Marnock earned his bachelor’s degree in Scientific Nutrition at Texas A&M University, College Station, TX. He completed his medical degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, Houston, TX.

In addition to his board-certification in family medicine, Dr. Marnock is also fellowship trained in primary care sports medicine. Before moving to the mountains, he served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy Medical Corps.

The call to the medical profession is steeped in a tradition of compassion and caring for people that dates back four generations to Dr. Marnock’s great, great, grandfather. “I cherish the reward of helping others and love the opportunity to continue to learn about medicine’s new discoveries.”

Dr. Marnock is married. He and his wife have two grown sons. He loves time spent mountain biking, hiking, walking his dog and playing chess.
