May 4, 2021; HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. – AdventHealth Hendersonville is excited to announce that Denise Stretcher, MD is joining its team of board-certified family medicine physicians. Dr. Stretcher will be caring for patients, children through adults, at AdventHealth Medical Group Family Medicine at Brevard and AdventHealth Medical Group Family Medicine at Mills River.

Dr. Stretcher says from the start, the opportunity to join AdventHealth felt like a good match for her and her patients. “I recognize that I do best in a small practice with a personal touch for each of my patients. This opportunity gives me a small practice environment even though I am still part of something larger. It feels as though this larger part still has that individualization that I desire!”

Dr. Stretcher started her professional life as a special education teacher, but quickly realized she was being drawn to medicine. “It was a good mixture of science, which I have always loved, and caring for people.”

Dr. Stretcher earned her medical degree from Wright State University in Fairborn, Ohio. She completed her family medicine residency at Bethesda Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio.

“We are so excited to have Dr. Stretcher joining our family medicine team. She puts so much value on the people she cares for and makes sure that care is what they need, when and where they need it,” said Christy Sneller, Vice President of Physician Services at AdventHealth Hendersonville. “This makes her an incredible addition to our team as we provide our patients with whole-person care – body, mind and spirit.”

Dr. Stretcher and her family made their way to the mountains after a vacation to Brevard in 2007. She is married and she has two adult children. Dr. Stretcher says she is happiest when she is outside. She loves to hike and explore. She and her husband enjoy traveling all over the world and love meeting new people.
