LAKE PLACID, Fla. -- AdventHealth Lake Placid celebrated the completion of major renovations to the hospital and announced plans to expand its orthopedic program.

AdventHealth leaders, community leaders and residents attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony and toured the facility.

On Monday, March 4, community members and local leaders gathered for the dedication of the AdventHealth Lake Placid Serenity Garden and to get an up-close look at the $390,000 worth of renovations. The new design for the hospital and emergency department lobbies for outpatient care services feature a modern, healing environment for improved staff efficiency, compassionate care and enhanced patient safety. The AdventHealth Lake Placid Foundation provided more than $168,000 for the project.

“We are so delighted to celebrate these renovations with our community. They send a signal to our community that we are going to keep investing in this hospital,” AdventHealth Lake Placid President and CEO Jason Dunkel said. “These additions along with our new serenity garden continue to show our commitment to offering critical, compassionate, whole-person care to everyone in our Heartland communities.”

The nearly $14,000 Serenity Garden project was fully supported by the AdventHealth Lake Placid Foundation and through generous support from our Heartland community.

Foundation officials say this project is meant to provide a place of rest and healing for patients, visitors, and AdventHealth team members. They hope it also offers a place of escape and positivity when a visit to the hospital can sometimes be hard or even a place to talk to God and make a crucial decision.

“AdventHealth Lake Placid Foundation is proud to have provided primary financial sponsorship for the newly constructed Serenity Garden,” said Jon Geitner, Board Chair of the AdventHealth Lake Placid Foundation. “In 2021, my family encountered a life-threatening issue which was blessed with a successful outcome due to the skill and commitment of the AdventHealth transplant team in Orlando. We spent endless time in their prayer garden, personally witnessing the healing power of Christ through petition and faith. It is the hope of the Foundation our Serenity Garden will provide patients, family and team members with a peaceful setting that allows all who visit to discover a quiet place for family to gather, find solace and reflect on the Lord’s endless mercy and blessings.”

These projects are all part of AdventHealth Lake Placid’s continued efforts to improve patients’ experience. AdventHealth Lake Placid will also be expanding its orthopedic program in the future to make it easier for people living there and in the surrounding area to get the critical care they need to feel whole again. The expansion also represents the commitment of AdventHealth to support and develop health programs to meet the needs of our community.
