(August, 10, 2021) Tarpon Springs, FL – AdventHealth North Pinellas’ Transitional Care Unit (TCU) has once again remained the only short-term skilled nursing facility in Pinellas County to achieve a 5-star CMS rating, the highest rating possible for overall quality from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The prestigious recognition is based on health inspections, staffing, and quality of patient care.

“Our world-class team members are deeply committed to delivering convenient and unparalleled healing to the community,” said Jason Dunkel, President, and CEO for AdventHealth North Pinellas. “This prestigious recognition in addition to AdventHealth North Pinellas’ recent hospital CMS 5-star rating is an indicator that we are delivering prestigious care for all patients.”

The 32-bed unit is uniquely designed to offer physical, occupational, and speech therapies 7 days a week. It is conveniently located within the hospital and provides access to highly trained physicians and therapists, who use leading-edge technology and innovative techniques.

“When patients are in our care, they can trust our team members are focused on providing the most compassionate, high-quality care possible,” said Tory Flood, Senior Director of the Transitional Care Unit at AdventHealth North Pinellas. “Our ‘compassionate first’ mentality has allowed us to become the premier destination for transitional health care services in Pinellas County. This is a remarkable achievement.”

Because the environment patients recover in is just as important as the care they receive, the transitional care unit also provides a nurturing and healing experience. The unit offers beds without rails, allows patients to wear their own clothes instead of hospital gowns, provides 24/7 access to a social services worker, and includes an activities room with scheduled events to encourage patients to get active on the path to a fast, healthy recovery.
