PALM COAST, Fla., July 26, 2016 Florida Hospital Flagler has recognized general surgeon Dr. Steven Bower as the physician of the quarter for the second quarter of 2016.

Hematologist/oncologist Dr. Padmaja Sai nominated Bower, and numerous votes from his physician peers led to his receipt of the award.

Bower received the award during Florida Hospital Flagler's quarterly general medical staff meeting on July 13, where he was joined by his family and received a standing ovation.

Dr. Bower takes time to show compassion to all patients and families, regardless of stress in the environment or time constraints, said one of his peers in a submission.

Several of the other submissions mentioned his compassion, as well as his faith and his embodiment of Florida Hospital Flagler's mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ. Many also referred to him as an example for others.
