What to Expect When You Visit the ER
When you're faced with an emergency situation, it's natural to have a lot of questions. At AdventHealth, formerly Metroplex Health System, we’ll take as much time as you need to address your concerns. And we’ll have some questions for you, too, because the more we know, the more quickly we can help bring you healing. To start off, we’ll ask for basic information like your medical history and the reason for your visit. Then we’ll take your vital signs and decide on the best way to care for you.
At AdventHealth Central Texas and AdventHealth Rollins Brook, our emergency rooms use a process called triage to make sure those in the most serious condition receive care first. Sometimes, this means treating a later-arriving person suffering from a heart attack before those with less serious conditions. We always strive to keep our emergency room wait times as short as possible. So that we can best serve you, consider keeping an information card in your wallet or purse that details things like:
- Advanced Directives Like a Health Care Proxy and Power of Attorney
- A List of Your Medications and Drug Allergies
- The Name and Telephone Number of Your Primary Care Physician
When we have all the facts, we can provide the fast, effective emergency medical care you deserve.
- After Your Emergency Room, Urgent Care, or Video Visit
-
Hopefully, your trip to the emergency room will be the only medical attention you'll need for a while. If your injury or condition requires further treatment, however, our care navigators will help connect you with follow-up care wherever you live. As part of our mission to provide whole-person care, we're here to not only heal your body. We want to help ease your mind and minister to your spirit, as well.
