Celebrate the warmth and comfort that comes with the beginning of fall through this interactive, hands-on cooking class, where you will learn our favorite fall dishes with a healthy twist.

Menu:

Appetizer: Duo of Dips with Crudites and Crackers

  • Curried Sweet Potato & White Bean or
  • Beet Hummus

Salad:

  • Endive Honeycrisp Fennel Salad with Cider Miso Vinaigrette

Entrée:

  • Chicken & Wild Rice Stew (or Vegetarian Option: Chickpea & Wild Rice Stew)

Dessert:

  • Pumpkin Flax Bars with Pumpkin Seed Brittle

Instructor Bio:

As a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and practitioner of Culinary Medicine, Lisa Markley integrates the art of preparing, cooking, and presenting food with the science of medicine to optimize overall wellness. She combines the enjoyment of food with the scientific knowledge of how food and dietary choices may influence our metabolism, immune function, and the development of chronic diseases.

Lisa joined the AdventHealth Whole Health Institute in 2020 as the Director of Culinary Medicine where she develops educational programs with an emphasis on culinary medicine/nutrition and provides one-on-one nutrition consults. She has also been an adjunct nutrition instructor at Johnson County Community College since 2016.

During her time as a dietitian and culinary educator, Lisa has taught hundreds of cooking and nutrition classes and is passionate about educating and empowering others how to harness the healing power of food and healthful lifestyle changes.
