AdventHealth Medical Group Welcomes New Physicians

KANSAS CITY, Kan., AdventHealth Medical Group welcomed new primary care physicians to three Johnson County medical practices in October and November.

Kristin Adams, MD, joined AdventHealth Medical Group Primary Care at Shawnee Mission, located near I-35 and 75th Street. Board-certified in family medicine, Dr. Adams is a primary care physician who welcomes new patients of all ages with all health needs. Her clinical interests include preventive medicine, women's health and mental health.

Rachel Seymour, MD, MSc, joined AdventHealth Medical Group Primary Care at Prairie Village, located at Mission Road and 75th Street. Dr. Seymour, who previously practiced in Leavenworth, is Board-certified in family medicine and provides primary care for people of all ages, from newborns to older adults. Her clinical interests include preventive wellness, chronic disease management, contraceptive care, in-office procedures, mental health and acute care.

Claudia Wendell, MD, joined AdventHealth Medical Group Primary Care at College Boulevard, formerly known as Leawood Family Care, located at Metcalf Avenue and College Boulevard. Dr. Wendell, who comes to AdventHealth from Wichita, is an experienced, Board-certified family medicine physician. She especially enjoys providing women’s health and pediatric care, and she welcomes new patients of all ages, including newborns. A native of Colombia, South America, she is fluent in Spanish.

“There is always a high patient demand for competent, compassionate primary care physicians, and we are very pleased to welcome Drs. Adams, Seymour and Wendell to our team of outstanding family physicians,” said Ron Baker, vice president of physician services for AdventHealth’s Mid America region.

In addition to the three new physicians, AdventHealth Medical Group also welcomed four new nurse practitioners this fall: Jackie Cochran, DNP, APRN, FNP-C, joined Primary Care at College Boulevard; Alexa Byrd, APRN, FNP-C, joined Gynecologic Oncology at Shawnee Mission; Allison Elliott, DNP, APRN, FNP-C, joined Primary Care at Prairie Village; and Travis Williams, APRN, FNP-BC joined the primary care team at AdventHealth Ottawa Health Park.

These physicians and advanced practice providers are among more than 170 providers in AdventHealth Medical Group in the Kansas City area and more than 1,000 physicians on the AdventHealth medical staff across the region.
