Leawood Family Care, a primary care practice that has served patients in and around Johnson County for more than two decades, has joined the AdventHealth Medical Group network. The nine-provider practice, now called AdventHealth Medical Group Primary Care at College Boulevard, is open seven days per week and offers walk-in care daily.

Through the new affiliation, the practice’s patients now have access to AdventHealth’s connected system of care, including enhanced technology and service offerings through the AdventHealth app.

“After 21 years as an independent primary care medical practice, my partners and I at Leawood Family Care sought to partner with a hospital system to enhance our ability to continue to provide high quality care for years to come,” said Louis Christifano, DO, a co-founder of Leawood Family Care. “After much thought and consideration, we chose to join AdventHealth Medical Group because we believe AdventHealth shares our values of delivering compassionate care for the whole patient, mind, body, and spirit. In addition, we believe the organization has the experience and resources to take our practice to the next level. We look forward to our future with AdventHealth.”

The practice is located on the campus of AdventHealth College Boulevard, at the corner of College and Metcalf. The provider team includes six Board-certified family physicians – John Horton, MD, FAAFP; Louis Christifano, DO; Lisa Winkler, MD; Kerry Jordan, MD; Stella Zhang, DO; and Connor Gill, DO – and three certified nurse practitioners – Deborah Brown, APRN, FNP-BC; Katlyn Hilton, DNP, APRN, NP-C; and Briana Finch, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC. In June, longtime Leawood Family Care physician Mary Ann Campbell, MD, left the practice to move out of state. Dr. Gill, who grew up in Johnson County and moved to Oklahoma after graduating from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, moved back to Kansas City in July to join the practice. Additional providers are expected to join later this year.

“We’re incredibly honored and excited to welcome Leawood Family Care and their patients to the AdventHealth family,” said Austin Purkeypile, vice president of physician network for AdventHealth’s Mid-America Region. “Having 7-day-a-week walk-in clinic services with outstanding staff and providers is tremendously convenient.”

AdventHealth Medical Group is a network of now 14 primary care and more than 40 specialty care practices across Johnson, Miami, Douglas, Leavenworth and Franklin counties in Kansas. In addition to the Medical Group, AdventHealth in Kansas includes AdventHealth Shawnee Mission, AdventHealth Lenexa, AdventHealth South Overland Park, AdventHealth College Boulevard and AdventHealth Ottawa.
