OVERLAND PARK, Kan., AdventHealth South Overland Park has added a national and a state-level designation to its growing list of awards, both of which recognize the expanding Labor and Delivery unit, which is set to double in size by summer 2024.

AdventHealth South Overland Park was named a National Infant Safe Sleep Certified Hospital by Cribs for Kids, an organization that recognizes hospitals and hospital systems for their commitment to infant safe sleep to reduce the risk of sudden unexpected infant death, accidental suffocation and strangulation in bed, and unsafe sleep injuries. At the state level, AdventHealth South Overland Park was also recognized in the top 5% of facilities amongst peers for Birth Record Quality and Timeliness during the 2023 calendar year by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.

“I continue to be amazed at the incredible work all of our clinical and ancillary staff do for our patients and our community and I am thrilled to see national organizations recognize them,” said Monica Natzke, chief nursing officer for AdventHealth South Overland Park. “In regard to our safe sleep certification, we never compromise when it comes infant safety. We will continue to uphold our gold standard of providing best practices for our infant patients and their sleep and to educate families, giving them peace of mind when they return home.”

Both recognitions are a continuation of the national focus on AdventHealth South Overland Park since opening its doors as a full-service hospital in 2021. In November 2023, AdventHealth South Overland Park was named a Top General Hospital by The Leapfrog Group for health care safety and quality.

In addition to these designations, an expansion project has begun on the Labor and Delivery unit, located on the third floor, that will add seven new rooms and nearly double the size of the unit. Construction is set to be complete in August 2024.

“Continued growth is quickly becoming part of our everyday vocabulary here at AdventHealth South Overland Park,” said Jimmy Bolanos, chief operating officer at AdventHealth South Overland Park. “We look forward to completing the expansion of our Labor and Delivery unit and will be ready to expand other units and services lines in the coming future to meet the needs of our patients.”
