TAVARES, Fla., November 15, 2019 – AdventHealth Waterman now offers the most advanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technology.
The MAGNETOM® Vida 3T MRI scanner with BioMatrix Technology adapts to the unique needs of each patient while providing high-definition images for more accurate cardiac, neurologic, musculoskeletal, abdominal, prostate and breast exams.
“Our new MRI is unique in that it combines the ability to capture high-quality diagnostic images with a larger bore, or opening, that’s large enough to accommodate an NFL lineman (approximately 6-foot-5, and over 310 pounds),” said Rick Golab, AdventHealth Waterman director of imaging services.
In fact, AdventHealth Waterman’s 3T MRI has the largest opening of any MRI on the market today.
“This provides a more comfortable experience for patients, especially those who are claustrophobic and uncomfortable in tight, confined spaces,” said Golab. “Traditionally, patients who couldn’t tolerate the restrictive space of a MRI would have their image studies performed in an open MRI system with low-field magnets. This could unfortunately limit the usefulness of the images obtained.”
In addition, the 3T MRI’s BioMatrix technology anticipates a patient’s regular motion due to breathing, heartbeat and head movement. By detecting individual breathing patterns and lung volumes, AdventHealth Waterman’s new 3T MRI minimizes the need for patients to hold their breath during imaging scans and reduces the need for rescans.
All of this advanced technology means that AdventHealth Waterman now provides faster and more precise high-resolution MRI scans, allowing for shortened exam times without compromising quality.
“Patient setup in the new 3T MRI is simpler and quicker, making the whole process even easier for patients,” said Golab.
