Construction is underway at AdventHealth new Nicholson Pavilion, which will bring dozens of new patient rooms to the medical center.

Overnight, crews poured roughly 50 truck-loads of concrete, spanning about 450 yards, for the five-story, Mediterranean-inspired pavilion. Set to open in 2019, the Nicholson Pavilion will add up to 80 all-private rooms, as well as a new patient lobby.

We're excited to lay the groundwork today on what is the largest investment in AdventHealth history and one of the largest in Winter Park, said hospital administrator Jennifer Wandersleben. This facility will allow us to continue our hospital's funding goal of creating a world-class hospital to serve the community health needs right here at home.

Named for philanthropists Tony and Sonja Nicholson, the expansion will allow the hospital to convert the majority of its existing rooms into private patient rooms, today's gold standard in patient care.

The state-of-the-art community hospital is home to destination services such as the Dr. P. Phillips Baby Place, AdventHealth for Women at AdventHealth Winter Park, the Cancer Institute, Orthopaedic Institute, and the Minimally Invasive and Robotic Surgical Center.
