NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla., December 19, 2017 More than 375 community members helped raise approximately $45,000 during the 21st annual Holiday Charity Ball at the Brannon Community Center on Nov. 18.

Hosted by the Florida Hospital New Smyrna Foundation and the Kiwanis Club Foundation of Southeast Volusia County, the black-tie event featured an evening of dinner and dancing, as well as a silent auction.

This years Holiday Charity Ball was a wonderful success. This event continues to get better and better each year, said Cheryl Faber, Holiday Charity Ball chairwoman. Its a perfect way to start the holiday season celebrating with friends, and at the same time, helping to improve the health of our community.

The Holiday Charity Ball is a New Smyrna Beach tradition that began in 1996. New Smyrna Beach philanthropist and business owner Kaye Walker planned the first event with the goal to support various local charities.

The funds raised during the event will support the Florida Hospital New Smyrna Foundation, as well as the Kiwanis Club Foundation of Southeast Volusia County's sponsored youth programs.

The combined efforts of the Florida Hospital New Smyrna Beach Foundation and New Smyrna Beach Kiwanis made the Charity Ball a great success, said Pat Driver, Florida Hospital New Smyrna Foundation chair and event co-chair. The funds raised will definitely help to benefit local kids in need, as well as support our local healthcare services.
