Becker’s Hospital Review has recognized AdventHealth President and CEO Terry Shaw on its 2023 list of Great Healthcare Leaders to Know.
Becker’s Healthcare stated, “The list celebrates leaders for the strides they’ve made in innovation, inclusivity and access to quality care. Healthcare leaders define the vision, culture and future of their organizations, acting as a guiding light when the path forward is unclear. The strong leaders included in this list are expertly navigating the ever-changing landscape of modern healthcare.”

“Terry’s leadership has been a transformative influence for AdventHealth,” said AdventHealth Board Chair Ron Smith. “He has led the organization through a nationwide rebrand, a devastating pandemic and the resulting ripple of instabilities in a way that only a great leader could. His focus on prioritizing team members’ wholeness has allowed the organization to truly deliver whole-person care in its communities.”
Last year, Shaw was also recognized by Modern Healthcare as one of the 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare of 2022, a list that acknowledges and honors individuals who are deemed by their peers and the senior editors of Modern Healthcare to be the most influential figures in the industry in terms of leadership and impact.
Under Shaw’s leadership, AdventHealth has earned other accolades for its dedication to patient safety, quality of care, innovation and workplace culture in recent months. The Leapfrog Group, a national patient safety watchdog, named AdventHealth as the first health system to earn the Emerald Award for Patient Safety, Quality, and Transparency in 2022. AdventHealth also ranks among Computerworld's Best Places to Work in IT, Becker’s 150 Top Places to Work in Healthcare, Newsweek’s Most Trustworthy Companies in America, Fortune’s list of America’s Most Innovative Companies and has been recognized by Forbes as a Best Employer for New Grads and one of America's Best Employers by State. AdventHealth hospitals also earn top spots on U.S. News & World Report's Best Hospitals rankings.
