AdventHealth Daytona Beach has received The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for total shoulder, total hip and total knee replacements.
These three certifications are for Joint Commission-accredited hospitals seeking to elevate the quality, consistency and safety of their services and patient care.
“This recognition is the highest of its kind in the field of orthopedic surgery and assures the community they are receiving the best orthopedic surgery care possible at our facility,” said Ed Noseworthy, AdventHealth Daytona Beach CEO.
AdventHealth Daytona Beach underwent a rigorous onsite review Feb. 21-22. Joint Commission experts evaluated compliance with disease-specific care standards and requirements, including orthopedic consultation, as well as pre-operative, intra-operative and post-surgical orthopedic surgeon follow-up care.
“Achieving these certifications recognizes AdventHealth Daytona Beach and their commitment to provide care in a safe and efficient manner for patients,” said Patrick Phelan, executive director, Hospital Business Development, The Joint Commission. “These certifications will help AdventHealth Daytona Beach better provide coordinated and comprehensive care to patients undergoing Total Shoulder, Total Hip and Total Knee Replacements.”
These certifications were developed in response to the growing number of patients undergoing a total shoulder, total hip or total knee replacement surgery, as well as the increased focus on clinical evidence-based patient care as it relates to pain management, quality of life issues, functional limitation in mobility and the return to normal daily activities.
“We are so honored to receive these certifications from The Joint Commission, the premier health care quality improvement and accrediting body in the nation,” added Noseworthy. “I’m so proud of the entire team, as this accolade speaks to our commitment to consistently provide exceptional care and strive for excellence. But it doesn’t stop here! We will continue our work and keep improving patient safety and quality of care for patients undergoing joint replacement procedures in the shoulders, hips and knees.”
AdventHealth Daytona Beach is one of only six hospitals within Florida to receive accreditation in all three joint replacement areas (shoulder, hip, and knee). Locally, AdventHealth Fish Memorial in Orange City and AdventHealth Palm Coast also hold these orthopedic accreditations
