Central Florida’s community of corporate offices united in downtown Orlando for the 2019 IOA Corporate 5k. Now in its 25th year, the event drew more than 18,000 runners and walkers, gathered more than 700 companies and aimed to promote health and wellness in Orlando’s growing corporate sector. Proceeds from the event benefitted the Track Shack Youth Foundation, which funds youth athletics and sports programs, and more than 160,033 meals were donated to the Christian Service Center’s Love Pantry and Second Harvest Food Bank.
For the first time ever, AdventHealth team members from the corporate office and AdventHealth’s Central Division – South Region united to form one team. More than 900 AdventHealth team members registered to join the team this year, helping AdventHealth win its third consecutive Team Spirit Award, a distinction given to the organization with the largest race team.
As a whole, the AdventHealth race team collectively ran more than 2,799 miles, enough miles to run from Lake Eola all the way to Los Angeles.
“The beautiful thing about this year’s 5k was the sense of unity and representation from all areas of the organization,” said Trevor Jordan, team captain of the AdventHealth race team. “There is no other way to explain the feeling of crossing the finish line aside from 'feeling whole.'”
