ASHEVILLE, N.C., — HENDERSONVILLE, NC, June 24, 2025 – AdventHealth Hendersonville invites you to celebrate the start of the summer season by participating in the 38th Annual Operation Blood Drive. This yearly event is in partnership with WLOS News 13, The Blood Connection and The American Red Cross. This year, as we continue to recover from Hurricane Helene, blood donation is essential to help maintain a safe blood supply for our community. Help be “Appalachia Strong” and join us in this team effort by becoming a blood donor at the Operation Blood Drive site at AdventHealth Hendersonville on Thursday, June 26.
The summer season is a time filled with fun and activity, yet it also starts the beginning of what is known as the “100 Deadly Days of Summer.” According to America’s Blood Centers, blood donations typically decrease by about 20% during the summer months. Unfortunately, this is also the time when the need for blood spikes due to increased outdoor activities and a higher rate of accidents and trauma. It is vital to have an adequate supply of blood products available for these elevated acute care needs during these summer months.
To make it easy for the public to donate, AdventHealth and The Blood Connection follow all safety protocols for blood donation. The TBC Mobile Donor Unit is air conditioned for donor comfort.
