Fla., — AdventHealth North Pinellas is pleased to announce Dr. Adam Bainey and his team successfully completed the first AVEIR™ and Micra™ leadless pacemaker procedures at AdventHealth North Pinellas.
Dr. Bainey, a board-certified cardiologist specializing in clinical cardiac electrophysiology, joined AdventHealth North Pinellas in May 2025. Dr. Bainey offers patients these two procedures using leading-edge pacemaker technology that’s specifically designed for long-term retrieval and extended battery life.
Leadless pacemakers represent one of the most significant innovations in heart rhythm management. Unlike traditional pacemakers, these miniature, self-contained devices are implanted directly into the heart via a minimally invasive catheter, requiring no chest incision, no surgical pocket, and no leads. The result is a quicker recovery time, reduced infection risk, and greater comfort for patients.
“We are excited to have an expert like Dr. Bainey championing these procedures locally in the Tarpon Springs area,” said AdventHealth North Pinellas CEO, Andrew Santos. “It’s important to us that our community can get the heart care they need close to home with these exciting procedures that use leading-edge technology.”
AdventHealth North Pinellas’ first atrial fibrillation ablation was also recently performed by Dr. Bainey. The procedure is a treatment for irregular and often very fast heartbeat. The signals that tell the heart to beat can't pass through scar tissue, and this treatment helps block faulty signals that cause AFib.
AdventHealth North Pinellas continues to build its cardiovascular team with experts who can offer care close to home in West Pasco & North Pinellas Counties. To learn more about heart care at AdventHealth North Pinellas, click here.
