PALM COAST, Fla., June 4, 2018 Florida Hospital Flagler recognized registered nurse Crystal Haines with the DAISY award.
The DAISY Award is an international program that rewards and celebrates extraordinary clinical skill and compassionate care provided by nurses. Created in 1999, more than 2,400 healthcare facilities in all 50 states, as well as 14 other countries, use the DAISY Award to honor nurses.
Haines is nurse on Florida Hospital Flagler's medical/telemetry unit.
Haines knew at a young age she wanted to be a nurse. Haines was the primary caregiver for her grandmother who became a quadriplegic after an automobile accident. Caring for her grandmother led her to nursing school.
A patients family member nominated Haines for the DAISY award.
Crystal kept me informed, explained [my husbands] care plan and medications, and answered all my questions with kindness and compassion, the family member wrote in a nomination form for Haines. I am so grateful and appreciative that Crystal was there for us. She truly deserves this award.
In recognition of this honor, Haines received a vase of daisies, an award pin, a tote bag, and a hand-carved stone sculpture of the Healers Touch by artists of the Shona Tribe in Zimbabwe. Her unit, Florida Hospital Flagler's medical/telemetry unit, also received Cinnabon cinnamon rolls and a DAISY banner to display.
