- Monitoring Your Type 1 Diabetes

When you live with type 1 diabetes, sometimes referred to as juvenile diabetes, you become familiar with glucose-monitoring devices and insulin shots. But if you’re newly diagnosed, you may still be figuring out how to best to predict and manage your type 1 diabetes. Count on our endocrinology specialists to help you discover healthy strategies, whether you've had diabetes for years or you're newly diagnosed. It starts with screenings where our endocrinologists get to know you, your health, and anything you might not have considered in your self-care routines. We also use blood tests to monitor your blood sugar and give you the tools you need to help prevent type 1 diabetes complications. Our screenings include:
- Fasting Plasma Glucose Test. Measuring blood sugar after eight hours without food or drink.
- Glycated Hemoglobin A1C. A test given to estimate your blood-sugar average over the past few months.
- Random Plasma Glucose Test. Measuring blood sugar without having to fast.
