Dr. Patel has a passion for research and education and uses his extensive training in minimally invasive spine surgery to educate other physicians. Dr. Patel has authored a chapter on Spine Care and the US Workers' Compensation System in Orthopedic Knowledge Update: Spine Volume IV.
This book has been developed by the North American Spine Society and is published by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. This volume contains the most up to date information on spine treatments and management techniques, advances in technology, and US Health Policy. The chapter dedicated to workers' compensation provides an outline of the workers' compensation system as a whole with additional focus on spine care. The pages are complete with a detailed examination of the spine physicians' role when caring for a patient afflicted with a job related back injury and the complexity of navigating through workers' compensation guidelines while providing efficient and effective patient care.
