Plasma-Rich Protein Injections
Some conditions that cause shoulder or elbow pain may benefit from platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy. If physical therapy, medications and steroid injections have not helped relieve your pain, your orthopedic doctor may recommend PRP. In this procedure, the patient’s blood is drawn, and platelets, known to reduce inflammation and promote healing, are injected into the affected area. It’s typically an outpatient procedure, and most patients can resume their normal activities the next day.
Shoulder Reconstruction Surgery
Our expert orthopedic surgeons can perform shoulder reconstruction procedures arthroscopically, using small incisions that allow tiny instruments to perform precise repairs. Arthroscopic shoulder reconstruction is typically performed as an outpatient surgery. Some patients may need an open surgical procedure that involves a larger incision over the shoulder to perform the repair.
CT-Guided Shoulder Reconstruction
We are one of only a handful of practices in the region with orthopedic surgeons specially trained to offer shoulder reconstruction surgery using computed tomography (CT) imaging. With this leading-edge technology, advanced CT images guide the surgeon to the best possible positioning for the repair, which allows the surgery to provide maximum stability.
Biologic Shoulder Resurfacing
This procedure preserves the patient’s normal anatomy, replacing worn, arthritic cartilage of the shoulder joint with donor cartilage.
Frozen Shoulder Surgery
During this procedure, tight portions of the shoulder joint capsule are cut via small incisions to stretch and release the stiffened capsule. Manipulation involves gently moving the shoulder enough to stretch or tear the accumulated scar tissue, increasing the range of motion.
Total Shoulder Replacement
When the shoulder joint is severely damaged by osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, post-traumatic arthritis or a rotator cuff tear, our surgeons will discuss whether a total shoulder replacement is the best option. If surgery is recommended, our surgeons are highly experienced and will provide the highest level of care.
Reverse Total Shoulder Replacement
In certain circumstances, a patient may need a reverse total shoulder replacement to allow other muscles to do the work of the rotator cuff. Our surgeons are leaders in performing reverse total shoulder replacement. Candidates for reverse total shoulder replacement include those who have:
- A completely torn rotator cuff that cannot be repaired
- Joint disease or deterioration caused by a rotator cuff tear
- A previous shoulder replacement that was unsuccessful
- Severe shoulder pain
- A complex fracture of the shoulder joint
- Chronic shoulder dislocation
Elbow Arthroscopy
If surgery is recommended to relieve symptoms and improve a patient's range of motion, we typically perform elbow arthroscopy as an outpatient procedure. Our orthopedic surgeons also use this procedure to smooth irregular surfaces and remove bone spurs.
Ulnar Collateral Ligament (UCL) Reconstruction
Also known as Tommy John surgery, our surgeons can perform UCL reconstruction, using a healthy tendon from elsewhere in the body to replace the torn ligament in the shoulder.
