Heart Block
Heart block is the name given to a specific type of heart arrhythmia that is caused by a disruption of electrical signals that travel from one part of the heart to the other. This condition may be the result of a congenital heart defect and is sometimes seen in babies whose mothers are afflicted with an autoimmune disease such as lupus. Treatment for a heart block may require implantation of a pacemaker to help regulate the electrical signals within the heart.
