Junctional Tachycardia

Junctional tachycardia is a rare arrhythmia condition that causes a faster-than-normal heartbeat. It is primarily diagnosed in babies and young children, where symptoms may include unusually rapid breathing, heart palpitations, irritability, poor feeding along with an inability to gain weight, and sweating. This condition often develops as a complication following open-heart surgery in children, where it is associated with inflammation and swelling of the heart tissue. While the problem usually resolves on its own after a few days, doctors will provide treatment to help slow the heart down to a more normal rhythm in the meantime.
